Symbiote Systems is a mobile marine electrical and 12V power systems business based in Airlie Beach. We work on boats at Coral Sea Marina, Port of Airlie, Shute Harbour and boats on moorings, install and maintain Victron Energy systems, and fit dual battery and 12V systems on 4WDs and caravans from Cannonvale to Proserpine. 12V and 24V DC only, no 240V.
What we do
Three areas of work, all 12V and 24V DC. Boats, Victron Energy systems, and power for 4WDs and caravans. Rob comes to the boat, the vehicle or the van, wherever it is in the region.
Marine Electrical
Wiring, batteries, charging, bilge pumps, navigation lights and electronics for sail and power boats. Rob works at your berth at Coral Sea Marina or Port of Airlie, on swing moorings, at Shute Harbour, and on the hardstand.

Lithium batteries, SmartSolar, Orion DC-DC chargers, MultiPlus inverter/chargers, Cerbo GX and VRM remote monitoring. Designed, installed and maintained for boats, 4WDs and caravans.
Victron systems →4WD & Caravan Power
Dual battery systems, DC-DC charging, lithium, solar, fridge and 12V wiring for 4WDs, campers and caravans. Rob comes to your home or the holiday park you are staying at, from Cannonvale to Proserpine.

Rob James, owner and operator
Symbiote Systems is owned and run by Rob James. Rob has over 19 years of hands-on experience from mining, civil and mechanical work, and now works on marine electrical and DC power systems full time in the Whitsundays. When you call, you speak to Rob, and Rob does the job.

Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays
Rob is based in Airlie Beach and covers the whole coast. On the water that means Coral Sea Marina, Port of Airlie and Shute Harbour, the swing moorings off Airlie Beach, the boat ramps at Shute Harbour and Whisper Bay, and the bareboat and charter fleets. On land it means homes and worksites in Airlie Beach, Cannonvale, Jubilee Pocket, Cannon Valley, Mandalay and Woodwark, and the holiday parks along Shute Harbour Road, from BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort and NRMA Airlie Beach Holiday Park at Cannonvale, through Tasman Holiday Parks at Jubilee Pocket, to Flametree Tourist Village and BIG4 Whitsunday Islands Holiday Park at Flametree, and out to the parks at Proserpine, Conway Beach, Dingo Beach and Hydeaway Bay.
How a call-out works
- 1. Call or send an enquiry. Tell Rob what the boat, vehicle or van is, where it is, and what you need.
- 2. Rob comes to you. Marina berth, mooring, hardstand, driveway, worksite or holiday park.
- 3. Rob explains the job before starting. What the problem is, what the fix is, and what the system will do.
